Title: Intermediate Designer or Senior Designer
Contract Duration: May 2026 - OPEN
Schedule: Thursdays, Fridays and some Saturdays.
Event Set-up days, mostly weekends with occasional week day events (usually a 5-8 hour day, generally 8AM-5PM)
Location: Our downtown Studio (323 10 AVE SW) and occasionally on Location at Events (Within Calgary, Canmore, Banff)
This role is for Intermediate/Senior floral designers with at least 1-2 years of experience working in a Flowershop or Florals Studio with a focus on Weddings and Events. You will be assisting in the day to day operations of the Studio which include making hand tie bouquets and arrangements, studio clean up, answering phones, taking orders, organizing deliveries, and wedding/event prep work.
Ability to reproduce a sample design will be required. Saturdays may include on-site delivery and installation assistance for Weddings and Events.
Compensation is $21-25/hr
Requirements:
1-2 years experience in a flowershop or floral studio with a focus in wedding work, or you’ve taken courses at the Maureen Sullivan Floral Design school or equivalent
Does not own or operate a floral business
Able to name and identify all common commercial cut flowers
Confident working solo, following a sample
Comfortable making bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres, arrangements with little guidance
customer service experience, intermediate english speaking and comprehension skills
strong understanding of composition, colour, and basic design principles
Good level of professionalism and politeness
ability to work independently, take initiative, and problem solve under pressure
Interest in learning how to consult with clients, build quotes and proposals
Can focus up to 5 hours a day on a computer if needed
able to lift up to 40 pounds, work comfortably on ladders, and able to handle lots of standing
